Mats Duwel

My name is Mats Duwel. I am a 20 year old upcoming professional badminton player from the Netherlands. In 2023 I moved to Denmark at 16 years old, to start practicing at the Centre Of Excellence in Holbæk Sportsby, which is organized by Badminton Europe, for professional players from all over the world to practice and to improve themselves. I believe that this place is the best place for me to chase my dream of becoming one of the world’s best badminton player, with the goal of participating in the Olympics and being able to perform to the best of my ability. 

To be able to reach that goal, I will have to travel around the world to play tournaments, gain experience, improve myself and get points to climb up the badminton World Ranking which results in me being able to play tournaments at the highest level. I am writing this email to ask if you would be open for a potential sponsor deal, and to help me reach my goals and dreams. 

First, here is some more information about myself:

I started playing badminton when I was 8 years old. Which first started as a fun activity once per week, and now turned into my full-time job for which I moved to Denmark. Soon after I started playing, I already decided to go to a special badminton school in the Netherlands to get extra practice, from where my dream started to get very clear: “I want to become the best player in the world”. Since then I have always been holding on to that goal. When I was 11, I got selected to practice at the regional training centre in the Netherlands which was organized by the official Dutch badminton federation. Which resulted in me practicing 4 mornings per week before school, and still practicing at my local club 3 times a week in the evening. All together with one private training over the weekend. When I was 13, I had officially been selected for the Dutch National Junior Team. Which also resulted in me being multiple times National Junior Champion, in different years and different categories. Since I was part of the National Team, I also started to travel a lot around Europe to play a lot of tournaments from a young age. Including playing big tournaments such as European Junior Championships in U15, U17 and U19. Also I have had an amazing experience at the World Junior Championships U19 in China last year. In 2022, I had the honor to represent The Netherlands during the European Youth Olympic Festival. Which is an Olympic Games for the Juniors in Europe. We travelled together with the whole Dutch team from all sports that were a part of the Olympic Festival. This was an incredible experience and made me even more eager to one day being able to represent The Netherlands in the real Olympic Games. In 2024 I ended my junior career in a strong way. During the European Junior Championships U19, I managed together with the Dutch team to win an amazing bronze medal, something which hasn’t happened for the Netherlands for over 15 years. And like I said before, I have also been participating at the World Junior Championships U19 in Nanchang, China. This was truly an amazing experience being for the first time in Asia, and having been able to reach the top 32 out of the 128 participants. Which was for me personally a big achievement. And now from 2025, It is time for me to focus on making my way to the top in the senior circuit. 

Now I have been living in Denmark for over 3 years to practice at the Centre Of Excellence. Since I moved here, I noticed that I have been improving very fast and I realized that moving to Denmark was for me the right decision. I currently also play for the Holbæk Badminton Klub as a player for the first team. Also in my free time, I am a coach for the junior team and for the senior team. In that way I am trying to earn as much money as I can in order to finance my daily life, and my tournaments.

Like I said at the beginning, I will have to travel around the world in order to climb up the ranking, and improve myself as a player. Unfortunately, this costs a lot of money, and that's why I am asking if you would be interested in a sponsor deal. What I can offer from my side of the deal, is advertising for you through prints on my clothes/bottles/towels which I will use during my matches worldwide. And also by advertising for you through my Instagram and Facebook page.
