Challenges Facing the Young
The poverty rate among young people in the UK is staggering, with over a quarter of them struggling to make ends meet. Parents and carers are increasingly concerned about the rising cost of living, with 85% citing it as a major issue for their families. Furthermore, the cost-of-living crisis is forcing 58% of young disabled people to limit their physical activities.
To make matters worse, there has been a 50% rise in the likelihood of young people experiencing mental health issues in the past three years.
Unfortunately, investment in and access to inclusive community sports, which can provide numerous benefits, remain disappointingly low. This lack of resources has hit the children and young people we support disproportionately hard, with less than half of them meeting the Chief Medical Officer's recommended activity guidelines.
That's why we started Unity Sport Club
We are Unity Sport Club, where inclusivity, meets sport. Our non for profit Community Interest Company, was founded by a group of friends in 2023, who shared a love for sports and wanted to help promote sport inclusion
We wanted to provide a variety of programs to meet the needs of all members, regardless of their age or ability. Our focus is on community and providing opportunities for all our members to thrive, both in sports and in life. We believe in giving back to the community and offering educational opportunities to our future coaches.
It is our vision to create immersive and engaging learning environments, that are accessible to everyone. We aim to support and collaborate with existing sports clubs in the community to help them thrive and grow.
Our Mission
Our primary objective is to foster inclusivity by addressing the access barriers that disadvantaged and disabled communities face. We strive to tackle the underlying causes of exclusion, rather than just treating its symptoms.
Our Vision
The vision is to promote personal development and sports involvement irrespective of background or situation. The goal is to make sports accessible to all.
